Match Day 2017: needs, capabilities and possibilites
NICAS will organise a Match Day on 4 April 2017 in the Auditorium of the Rijksmuseum. In March, a new edition of the NWO call for proposals "An integrated approach to the scientific study and conservation of art" will be launched. Within this call, budget is available for project proposals and applications for seed money in the context of the research agenda of NICAS. In this new edition of the call, an extra condition for all projects is the incorporation of data science in the research questions and methodology. The call is set up to investigate how data science and cultural heritage research can tackle research questions to mutual benefit. The Match Day is meant to bring together researchers from the fields of cultural heritage and data science to explore possibilities for collaboration.
During this day, a series of short lectures will provide windows into key areas of research in both data science and the research conducted at NICAS, supplemented with short elevator pitches about the aforementioned needs, capabilities and possibilities in the context of possible collaborations between data scientists and cultural heritage researchers.
